Presentation: A Growing Trend: Marine Macroalgae Tanks.

Bio: Dennis is the content creator behind the online persona of “Tigahboy” and a passionate hobbyist championing macroalgae display tanks as an alternative to keeping traditional coral-dominated reef tanks. He has been at the forefront of the recent, growing interest in macroalgae tanks as a separate and distinct sub-category/niche of the aquarium hobby with cross-over appeal from both reef tank and freshwater planted tank aquarists. Over the past few years, Dennis has been sharing photos and videos of his ornamental (and in some case even “nuisance”) macroalgae in a dozen different nano, pico and micro reef tanks online and on social media primarily through his Instagram account @tigahboy.h2o.

His projects all showcase macroalgae as the star of the tank with a heavy emphasis on aquascaping and overall composition. His macroalgae projects have been showcased in Reef Hobbyist Magazine, Reefbuilders, Reef2Reef as Reef Tank of the Month, Bahama Llama Corals’s YouTube channel, and Seafriendlyreef’s YouTube channel. He has also been a guest on the Reef News Network, Rumble Fish Podcast, and appeared in livestreams with renowned aquascapers George Farmer and Jeff Senske. Although he has been in the hobby and active on forums and social media since 2004, he’s thus far kept his identity hidden. MACNA 2022 in Milwaukee will be his first public appearance.
