Tips for Getting Around Milwaukee

Getting to the Conference Center

Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is only a 15 minute drive from the Wisconsin Center.

Taxi

There are taxis available from the airport arrival area. To get to the pick up station cross the Baggage Claim roadway outside of baggage claim 3 and follow sighs for the taxi rank. The Hilton City Center is located at 509 W Wisconsin Ave.

Rideshare

  • Uber & Lyft are located next to Baggage Claim 1.
    • First time Uber users can use the code UberMACNA to get a discounted ride. 
    • First time Lyft users can use the code lyft4MACNA to get a discounted ride. 

Public Transport

To get the the Hilton from the airport using the bus go to the bus stop outside baggage claim 1 and get on the route 80 line . Take this to 6th and Wisconsin where the Hilton is only a short 1 minute walk away. This line leaves the airport terminal every 30 minutes. 

Transport Throughout Milwaukee

Bublr Bikes

One of the best ways to experience the city while getting around is the bikeshare system Bublr. Renting these bikes is easy, with pick up and drop off stations all around the city, one is even conveniently located right outside the city center. By using the website or app you can pay as you go at $0.25 a minute or get a three day pass for only $25.

Bus

The Milwaukee County bus system (MCTS) has an extensive set of lines that can connect you to anywhere the city. The mobile app can be downloaded to help plan trips and check timetables. There are Mcard kiosks across the city, including one in the airport, that you can use to purchase rides. This can also be done in the UMO app, with daily passes costing $5 for adults.  It is also possible to pay cash, with each individual ride costing $2.25, note the drivers are not able to give change so  you must have exact change.

The Hop

A fun and free way to view Milwaukee is with the Hop, a free streetcar that runs downtown and can be used to get to many popular destinations. To use the Hop simply go to one of its stops, wait for one of the cars that runs every 15 minutes (20 minutes on the weekends), jump on when it arrives, and jump off when you get to where you need to be anywhere along its 2 mile route.

Rideshare

Uber and lyft are readily available in the city, and can be hailed through their apps.

The Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM)

The Milwaukee Art Museum is a 25 minute walk or a 10 minute bike ride from the Hilton. Another way of getting there is taking the GOL bus from the 6th & Wisconsin station to Prospect & Mason.

Discovery World and Reiman Aquarium

Discovery World is a 25 minute walk or a 10 minute bike ride from the Hilton. Another way of getting there is taking the 30 bus from the 6th & Wisconsin station to Van Buren & Wisconsin.
